Why Children Can Be Born with Down’s Syndrome?

Down syndrome is a condition that is based on genetic factors by n extra chromosome formed in cells. Down syndrome is not a disease, it’s a genetic difference. There are a total of 46 chromosomes in the human body with 23 chromosomes taken from the mother and 23 chromosomes taken from the father. Children with Down’s syndrome have 47th chromosome as well. For this reason, a genetic difference emerges, accompanied by physical and mental retardation.

According to experts, children who develop differently than normal can be seen in 1 out of 800 delivery. There is no specific reason for that. Children born with Down syndrome have their mental and physical development differently.  In children with Down’s syndrome, mental and physical developments are moderate or mild when compared to normal mind structure. For this reason, like other children, they want to explore their surroundings, and they also want to laugh, have fun, travel, and wander around.

The physical structures of children with Down’s syndrome are very similar. They have a small nose, their faces are flat, and their eyes are distant from each other are attracted by their distant and slanting. They don’t grow taller much and they have a genetic tendency toward being overweight. The ears are wide enough to be considered prominent ear, the small finger on the hand is boneless, and the distance between their big toe and the second finger is wide. The size of their tongue is bigger when their mouth structure and size. These physical characteristics distinguish children with Down syndrome from the others. Although children with Down’s syndrome are physically look like each other, their personalities are different.

The most pleasant side of children with Down’s syndrome is being extremely honest. They follow and obey all the rules. They are very helping and they love helping each other. They are very sensitive about nature and they protect it. They are cheerful and good-humoured and it makes them sympathetic. They are more emotional than normal. They don’t like untidiness and they are very organized. Their humane sentiment is strong. They never display manipulative behaviours. They always think of others, they have no selfish side. They don’t expect love in return. They love unconditionally. They are interested in fine arts. They don’t know what a lie is so they never lie. They don’t hold grudges. They are overly humanists. They love nature and people and they never harm them.

There are 3 types of Down’s syndrome.

The first type is trisomy, which is seen in 94% of children with Down syndrome.  It emerges when all of the cells have an extra 21st chromosome.

Second type is translocation, which is seen in 4% of children with Down’s syndrome. This is the condition when the extra 21st chromosome is linked to another chromosome.

The third is the mosaic type, which is seen in 2% of the children with Down’s syndrome. This is the condition when only a fraction of the cells are linked with extra 21st chromosome.
